a word from the author robert mcbroom jr.

"While working on his own book, historian John Dower has taught me how to find and look at the right sources and documents as well as answering any of my questions along the way. When dealing with documents such as a muster roll from the revolutionary war. The writing can be difficult to understand and make out what they say but over time, when looking for the same names and or narrowing the search down, it came to make the challenge much less overwhelming. While at Arizona State University, I took on the challenge of a Professional Experience course, I've learned the importance of inland Rhode Island and how crucial to winning the war my home state was. General George Washington believed leaving a gap such as Newport for the British to occupy in the state of Rhode Island would devastate the progress the Continental Army made."
