Second annual Smith’s Castle - Through the Seasons Photo Contest Guidelines

 

Official contest rules:

Eligibility: This contest is open to all professional and amateur photographers. This contest is free to enter. Taking part in this contest implies that you accept the contest rules, and any reasonable changes introduced by the photo contest organizer from Smith’s Castle.

The contest is separated into two divisions:

Adult division (age 18 and older)

Youth division (grades K-12)

Subject: Photographs shot on the premises and inside Smith’s Castle, located at 55 Richard Smith Drive North Kingstown Rhode Island.

Submission period: Oct 1, 2017- September 30, 2018

Copyright: The photographer retains the copyright over their works. Smith’s Castle reserves the right to use all photographs submitted in support of it’s mission including but not limited to internet and print use for commercial and non-commercial purposes.

Works: Each competitor may submit up to 10 photographs each season (Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring), none of which can have won a prize in any other competition. All photos must be the entrant’s own work.

Photographs must be submitted by the entrant or legal guardian if the entrant is under the age of 18.

Photographs may be submitted by sending them in an email to castlephotocontest@gmail.com. Please include the following information in the message section of the email: Photographer’s name, phone number, address, contest division and if applicable title of photograph. Images that are too large for email may be submitted through dropbox.

Photographs may be submitted in color or black and white.

Submitted photographs must be jpeg format with a minimum resolution of 300 ppi and at least 2000 pixels on the shorter side. Entries may also submit low resolution (72ppi) watermarked images for publication on our online sites, but entrants must submit the higher resolution images as well.

Photographs will be judged on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact and artistic merit. The official contest judge is professional photojournalist Laura Paton. Bio can be viewed at www.laurapatonphotography.com.
